Dear Danny,
I am sending a hardcopy letter that will say much more, but I wanted to write you this morning and tell you what a wonderful day I had on Saturday. I knew I was in for a treat when you invited me to Clay County to participate in an all-day genealogical and historical seminar. I had NO IDEA what a treat was in store for me. Spending a day with you folks has made me a “life promoter” of the Clay County Genealogical and Historical Society. I think Charles House’s comment that Jess Wilson’s moving his papers from Berea College to your facility speaks volumes about what you have accomplished there is right on the mark.
One of the things I was very impressed with is the number and quality of the local history and genealogy publications that you have for sale there in your Society’s library. I was overwhelmed and only wish I had a bulging wallet so I could have brought more of them back home with me.
I don’t have Internet at home, so I had to wait to get back to work today to tell you how much I appreciate the hospitality and warm reception I received. I hope others who could not attend will get to benefit from the taping that was done.
All of you there at the CCGHS have done Clay County and Kentucky as a whole proud. And, whether “Heroes” or “Skallywags”, you have certainly done well for the ancestors who came before you. Well done.
Maybe I’ll have the occasion to get back to give another talk someday, and if I do, I will certainly look forward to it. Please extend my thanks to all who were concerned with making Saturday a big success. You folks pulled off a very successful day in my opinion. I thank you again for allowing Ann Johnson and me to be a part of what went on.
Best wishes for your future efforts,
Don Rightmyer

The Society's "Roots and Offshoots" genealogy conference March 6th was a smashing success. The following letter from the Kentucky Historical Society to conference chairman Danny Finley says it all.
Don Rightmyer, of the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, listens to one of the speakers at the Society's Spring 2010 genealogy conference, "Roots and Offshoots." Behind Mr. Rightmyer is Society member, Mike White. Behind Mike is Mildred Edwards. To Mildred's right is the Society's Vice President, Maggie Bowling. Behind Maggie is Manchester Mayor Carmen Lewis with daughter, Bailey.
